A Lego Weekend
Saturday, November 18, 2017
We've had a bit of a splurge on Lego over the last few weeks - I blame Dani, she just can't help herself. Our most recent aquisition is the Lego Hogwart's Express (4841). The set hasn't been available for quite some time now so I managed to pick it up on eBay. It's actually the second time I've bought it as the first time had more than 20 pieces missing (despite being listed as complete) so it had to go back. This one still ended up with a few pieces missing but hopefully that will get resolved over the next couple of days. The missing bits don't interfere too much, and I had a great time building, so thought I'd take a few photos in the lightbox.
I also picked up classic old set (611 - Police Car). The really old sets like these only sell for a few pounds on ebay so they're a real bargain compared to any of the more modern sets. I bought this not just for the car, but mostly for the box, I love the old design, I thought it was also quite interesting how it opens with the box folding back on itself when you open it. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoy the sets!

New Lego - New House
Thursday, July 13, 2017
We've got one more week to go before the end of term, and despite losing lots of students and classes now that exams are over, things don't seem to have slowed down much. Dani is doing exam marking again this year which is keeping her busy in the evenings and we're also in the process of buying a house - we exchanged contracts today so the move should be on. I don't think either of us will be entirely convinced until we have the keys, having got burnt on the last one just before exchange. To help with all the stress and well, because Lego is awesome, we bought two new sets this month.
A couple of weeks ago, we bought the Lego London Bus (#10258) which technically isn't released until August. As a VIP member I received an email to let me know they were doing a special early release in their London stores, so we got to the shop just after opening to pick one up. It came with a special limited driving licence - which immediately after seemed to be selling on ebay for £15, so maybe it'll be worth something one day!.
Our newest set is the Lego Carousel (#10257) - its was a pretty epic build although there's a fair bit of repetition with 6 or 12 copies each small build finally culminating in quite an epic structure. I think the best bit is the animals around the side - they move up and down as the carousel turns, its so well engineered! Both sets are amazing and I highly recommend them if you're undecided. I've taken a few pictures to share them with everyone else. I hope you like them as much as me!

Everyone loves Lego
Tuesday, August 30, 2016
Well perhaps not everybody loves Lego. There's bound to be a few people that have stood bare feet on those little plastic bricks and those parents that curse at just how expensive it is, but c'mmon people - Lego!!! So I am definitely what I think they now term as an AFOL; an Adult Fan Of Lego. Dani and I have quite a collection and have actually built a few big models this summer that we bought a while ago including the Lego Creator Ferris Wheel (10247) and the Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters (75827). They are awesome, the level of detail is amazing espescially in the firehouse, they've really put a lot of thought into making it as realistic as possible.
Just before we broke up for the summer, I had an envelope through the post from mum. She had collected lots of tokens out of the sun news paper and got two free adult tickets for Legoland for this bank holiday Monday - amazing! So we bought an extra ticket for a bit cheaper though NASWUT and the three of us went.
The weather was fantastic and so was Legoland. It was pretty busy, but I guess this was to be expected with the combination of nice weather and a bank holiday. We really liked Miniland with the lego models of key sights around the world and the new Lego Starwars exhibit with the massive Death Star made of about half a million bricks. All in all a great bank holiday! Enjoy the photos.

Christmas Countdown
Sunday, November 29, 2015
The whole of November seems to have flown by without a single blog so I thought I better put a few words on here to say what we've been up to. It's been fairly mild weather the last few weeks and we've only had to de-ice the car once but despite that we've not been getting very far at weekends. As always, school is keeping us busy and I'm running a couple of Saturday morning catch-up sessions this term so was in last weekend. Other than that, we've not been up to much.
We were disappointed this year that there wasn't a new Lego Christmas set. We've bought the sets over the last few years but this year they re-issued one we had already got so I guess we'll have to get something else instead ;-). I do like the Lego modular building sets like the Palace Cinema and The Parisian Restaurant but they're a bit pricey so we shall have to see. There's also a new Lego Ideas Dr Who set which looks pretty awesome and in January the Lego Ghostbusters Firehouse which is amazing!
Anyway that's enough about Lego. Christmas is just around the corner and according to xmasclock there is just under 25 days and 13 hours until the day - even less until school breaks up - not that we're counting (honest)!
