A busy two weeks

Sunday, August 5, 2018

We've now been in the house just over a year and have been waiting to sort out the lounge for quite a while. We had settled on a herringbone pattern wood floor for the lounge having found something we liked at B&Q. After getting a couple of fitters around, we decided to change the flooring to a smaller oak parquet tile which we managed to source from a local company. We arranged for the fitter to come and sort the floor out this week so set about repainting last week. We decided to go for a nice Farrow and Ball colour named Vardo as a feature wall and white for the main wall to keep it nice and bright.

We had also ordered a new summerhouse for the garden having decided our existing shed was a bt too small. We bought it online and it was delivered last Thursday. We managed to move the old shed in one piece on to the garden to hold the current bits in it until the summerhouse was completed. In the end we managed to put the summerhouse the same day it was delivered, although it was a pretty long (and hot) day finishing up about 8.30pm. The only thing we hadn't done was fit the glass, deciding to wait until we had painted everything. long story short, whilst our floor fitter was fitting the new wood floor, we spent the last week adding extra support under the floor of the summerhouse, painting and sealing it, inside and out and finally adding guttering and glazing.

There's still a few more projects to work through, but I think it's time for a bit of a rest :-)

Easter at last!

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Wow, it feels like it's been a really long term, but finally we have hit the Easter holiday, well, rather finally I have hit my Easter holiday, Dani has already been off a week. Unfortunately the holidays have not really worked out terribly well for us this year and this is the second time that our holidays have been out of sync.

Dani has had a pretty busy week however and was still in school Monday and Tuesday last week helping out with some Easter revision sessions and then Wednesday and Thursday she was camped out in the bedroom as we had our central heating replaced. After booking the central heating at the beginning of March, we were pleased to see the weather picking up and getting warmer and then came Wednesday the day work was to start and after a week of warm sunshine we suddenly had a spell of snow and the plumbers came to turn the heating off with snow on the ground. Not the dream! Fortunately the weather picked up a bit and the snow was gone by late afternoon but it was pretty chilly Wednesday night without central heating.

Anyway the heating's all done now and the shower is even more powerful than it was before which had been a bit of a concern. Dani's parents have been visiting over the weekend and mum was up today to see Sister Act on the stage at Leeds Grand. We have fingers crossed for the next week and are hoping to get out and do a little bit of work in the garden. We have big plans for the front garden although how much of it we can achieve this week remains to be seen. We also have plans to redecorate the lounge which is our project for the summer so we've got to make sure we have some money put aside for that!

In other news we have a new car, or rather a newer car to replace the Corsa which was developing a few too many problems and was on the verge of costing us a lot of money. I think that's about it for now. Just a bit of an update to keep something on the front page. Hope everyone is well, cheerio ta ta for now
